ABOUT THE TEST FOR ACADEMIC SKILLS (TEAS)
The TEAS measures your reading comprehension, English skills (such as grammar and punctuation), basic math skills, and science knowledge. For any questions or further information regarding the TEAS, contact the Nursing Department at 316.322.3140 or email awilcox8@butlercc.edu.

REGISTRATION & FEES
A non-refundable registration fee of $75 must be paid via Butler Marketplace or through Butler Accounts Receivable.
The TEAS test can be scheduled at any time at the El Dorado testing center. You must provide a photo id and a receipt of payment.

If an applicant wants to apply a TEAS score from another institution, the student must request the scores from the ATI website. There will be a charge for this.

TEST PREPARATION
A study guide is available in the bookstore on both the El Dorado and Andover campuses as well as at the L.W. Nixon Library located in the 600 Building on the El Dorado campus. Students may also purchase the TEAS study guide at the ATI Nursing Education website.

ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM
  • The student must bring a photo ID and receipt of payment to be admitted to the testing lab.
  • A four-function calculator will be available for you on the math exam.
  • Bring two pencils to the test. Scratch paper will be provided.
  • Cell phones and smart watches must be turned off while in the testing area.
TEST RESULTS
Test results will be given to the student at the completion of their test. A copy of the test score will be attached to the student's application and placed in their file.
Students wishing to discuss test results can go to 15-237 or call 316.322.3140.

A minimum score of the following on the teas test is required to be considered for the program:


Total Composite Score-65.6


RE-TAKING THE TEAS

The TEAS test may be repeated three times per year with a total of seven times until ATI changes the version of the test, with the best composite score used. It is the student’s discretion as to when they choose to take the exam.

You may take it before, during or at the completion of prerequisites.

The student will be required to submit a new teas registration to schedule a retake of the TEAS test. The student will be required to pay the $75 at the time of rescheduling.
